Peabodys

Overview

Starting back in 1946, Peabody's has been a family-owned enterprise built on earnestness, innovation, loyalty, and quality service.  However, the Peabody's that exists today bears little physical resemblance to what was once Peabody's Market, a prosperous grocery that served the Birmingham community for almost thirty years.  In 1975, the family market was reborn as Peabody's Fine Foods & Wet Goods, an upscale restaurant built on the same fundamentals that had guided the family business since its inception. 

Unfortunately, a fire scourged the building in 1980, destroying everything but the building's foundation.  However, where a tragedy like this might have spelled the end of most restaurants, the fire turned out to be simply a bump in the road in the Peabody's story.  No more than six months after the disaster, Peabody's Restaurant was born from the ashes of the Fine Foods & Wet Goods eatery, and still thrives today.

Peabody's Restaurant is a true Birmingham landmark and a 3rd Generation family-owned and run eatery with great food at great prices.  Their menu offers delicious and often unique entrees such as the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese and the Apple Jack Baby Back Ribs, as well as many contemporary favorites such as Seared Filet Mignon Medallions or their Fantail Gulf Shrimp.  The Prime Rib, the Swiss Onion Soup, and Fresh Lake Perch are great choices too!  Or, if its more casual fare you're seeking, their Cafe Sandwiches and Burgers will definitely hit the spot.

Topped off with a fully stocked bar and an open dance floor for Live Jazz on Friday and Saturday nights, Peabody's is simply too good to be missed.
